Machine Learning Engineer - Research Internship

Meltwater’s Consumer Insight AI Team is looking for a Machine Learning Research Intern who will be working on developing new innovative Natural Language Processing or Computer Vision features relying on the literature’s state of the art. Those features are meant to be integrated in our Consumer Insight platform meaning that your work will be used by our customers.

We are looking for a creative, proactive, collaborative, and innovation-focused mindset. You will
work alongside a team of passionate engineers driven by enthusiasm for adopting new
technologies and excitement about making a difference for customers using AI.

You will take complete ownership of conducting research on a subject associated with Social
Media data (billions of images and texts). Your results will help improve our products and could
yield to publishing a paper.

Here are some examples of research subjects you might be working on:

• Explore Large Language Models and agents to perform advanced Data Analysis
  constrained to a user-defined scope and objective.
• Explore end to end logo recognition techniques associated with zero-shot learning in
  order to easily add new classes (logos) to the pipeline such that no retraining is required.
• Explore Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) associated with Question Answering
  based on social media documents.

Your Skills and Experience

• A solid background in Statistics, Linear Algebra and Probability Theory.
• Strong understanding of Machine Learning techniques, their performance characteristics
  and their computational tradeoffs.
• A background in Computer Science (data structures, algorithms, software design).
• Experience with a popular Deep Learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
• Practical knowledge of Python.
• Fluent in French and English.

Along with interesting extra skills:

• Appetite for Software Engineering and R&D problem-solving.
• Completion of relevant AI research project.
• Experience with the latest Computer Vision/Natural Language Processing state-of-the-art
  (Vision Transformers, various LLMs architectures, PEFT methods, etc.) is a big plus.
